MAN REMANDED OVER WOMAN’S STAB MURDER

Omagh magistrates courtA 41-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with murdering his partner in County Antrim.

Richard McAuley, of Townhill Road in Portglenone, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday to face the single charge.

Denise Dunlop, 32, was found dead at her home in Centuripe Avenue, Ballymena, early on Sunday.

The mother of two had been stabbed to death. She had only recently moved into the property which is a former home in St Patrick’s Barracks.

McAuley was remanded in custody to appear in court again Thursday, July 10.

A detective from the PSNI’s Major Inquiry Team told the brief hearing that he believed he could connect the accused to the charge.
