MAN RESCUED FROM WEST BELFAST FLAT FIRE

Fire crew sceneFIRE crews whisked to safety a 25-year-old man from a blaze in west Belfast.

The alarm was raised around 2.53 am on Sunday morning.

The fire broke out on the fourth floor of a set of flats at the Grant Building on Clonard Street.

Fire fighters rescued the man from the balcony of the flat.

He was taken to the nearby Royal Victoria Hospital and was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.

A preliminary investigation said the fire was started accidentally.
