DUP councillor Guy Spence condemns latest attack on home of Polish family

NORTH Belfast DUP Councillor Guy Spence has condemned the attacks which have resulted in a Polish family fleeing from their home in Mount Vernon.

Bricks were thrown through a bedroom window and a living room window at around 5am on Monday morning, coming just two days after the family car was set on fire in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Polish man, his 9 year old son, 5 year old daughter and his girlfriend no longer feel safe and are moving out, in fear of further attacks.

Condemning the attacks, Councillor Spence said,

“It is appalling to hear of these attacks which have resulted in a family fleeing from their home in fear.

“Those responsible are to be utterly condemned for their criminal and dangerous actions which could have resulted in serious injury had someone been in one of the rooms at the time.

“No family should have to suffer attacks or intimidation such as this. Local people are disgusted and horrified. They do not want thuggish crimes like this happening in their area and damaging the perception of their community.

“At this stage the police are keeping an open mind as to the motive behind these attacks. I appeal to anyone who knows anything about these crimes or who was responsible to pass that information on to the police without delay, either directly on 101 or anonymously through the Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.”
