DETECTIVES have charged a man over a mob attack on homes in Larne last weekend.

The 32-year-old has been charged with one count of rioting, two counts of attempted intimidation and three counts of criminal damage.

He is expected to appear before Antrim Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

A 44-year-old man remains in custody while a 41-year-old man has been released unconditionally

Trouble erupted in the seaport town in the early hours of last Sunday, March 31.

Up to  100 people descended on the Knockdhu Park and Ferris Avenue areas attacking homes and cars.

ACC George Hamilton blamed the UDA’s south east Antrim brigade for the trouble, accusing them of being on a “power trip”.
