MASKED MEN ROB HOME OF CASH AND JEWELLERY

Police crime scene picDETECTIVES in Lisburn are appealing for information following a burglary in the Laurelhill Road area last night, Friday, April 4.

At around 9.30pm, four masked men entered a house.

One of the men was armed with a screwdriver.

They threatened the family there and locked them in a room. The four men made off with a number of items including a sum of money and jewellery.

The family (a man in his 50s, a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 20s and a teenage male) were not injured in the incident though the woman in her 50s required medical treatment for shock.

Detectives believe that there is a link between this burglary and an aggravated burglary that occurred in the Glenavy Road area of Lisburn a number of hours later.

The male resident of a house, a man aged in his 70s, was asleep in bed at approximately 1am when he awoke to find two men in his room, both armed with a suspected firearm. The resident was bound and locked in a room. The two men are believed to have made off without taking anything.

Although not injured, the resident required medical treatment as he was left very shaken.
