Man appears at Belfast Magistrates’ Court charged with attempting to murder four people at Ballyduff Gardens

A man faced a court today charged with attempting to murder four people earlier this week on the Ballyduff housing estate.

Craig Binnie, Tynan Drive, in Newtownabbey appeared at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on separate murder bid charges.

Two of the victims,  one of whom is his former partner, were rushed to hospital following the attack on Monday afternoon at Ballyduff Gardens around 4.30 pm.

She was stabbed in the chest and has been treated in the Royal Victoria Hospital for punctured lung injuries.

An elderly ‘Good Samaritan’ neighbour, who is believed to be in his 80s, also suffered severe stab wounds.

Doctors have been valiantly fighting all week to save their lives.

Four other people who came to their aid also suffered stab injuries.

Binnie, who is originally from Scotland, was also charged with causing grievous bodily harm to another man.

The 41-year-old accused was remanded in custody to Maghaberry Prison to appear back in court via video link.
