Police arrest an 18-year-old over ‘hate crime’ assault in east Belfast

AN 18-year-old male has been arrested over a ‘hate crime’ assault in east Belfast.

The PSNI say officers responded to a report of an assault in the Albertbridge Road area of east Belfast shortly before 10.00 pm on Wednesday, November 27.

“A 45 year old male was knocked unconscious during the incident and subsequently received hospital treatment for facial injuries which are not believed to be life threatening,” said a PSNI spokesperson.

“Police are treating the incident as a hate crime.

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in custody helping police with their inquiries.
