Army technical officers deal with a suspicious object at Stockman’s Lane in south Belfast

POLICE have evacuated businesses due to a security alert in south Belfast.

It follows the discovery of a suspicious object was found on Stockman’s Lane near the M1.

As a result, the PSNI have shut Stockman’s Lane between Boucher Road and the M1.

Army technical officers have been tasked and are currently at the scene.

The M1 off-slip road at Stockman’s Lane has also been closed.

Police have put diversions in place and motorists have been advised to avoid the area if possible.
