DETECTIVES are investigating after an elderly couple were attacked and beaten by a gang of masked men who stole two guns from their home.

The PSNI say said four men wearing balaclavas got into the house on Lisburn’s Saintfield Road around 8 pm on Friday.

During the attack, the gang beat the man and then locked him in a toilet.

The thugs then threatened a woman with a knife and tied her up before they made off with two shotguns and a sum of cash.

The man suffered cuts and bruises and the couple were left badly shocked at their ordeal, say police.

Anyone with information about the gang or the whereabouts of the shotguns are asked to contact detectives at Lisburn CID on 0845 600 8000.
