Police warn women to be alert against hand bag snatchers in south Belfast

POLICE have warned women to be on their guard against a gang of Fagan-style thieves stalking south Belfast.

Officers have reported a number in the Queen’s University area over the past fortnight.

The PSNI advice to women is: “If you’re out tonight carry your bag close to you with clasp inwards,across your body and under your coat.

“Spread your valuables between your pockets and bag and try not to advertise that you have valuables with you.

“Also consider carrying a personal attack alarm. Please report anything suspicious to police on 0845 600 8000.”
