Police are hunting sex beasts who raped a woman in west Belfast

DETECTIVES are on the trail of a gang who raped a 23-year-old woman on the outskirts of west Belfast.

The victim was walking along the Bell Steel Road in Poleglass around 10.10 pm on Friday night when she was approached from behind three men.

She was forced onto a grass bank close to the Woodside Estate where she was held down and raped.

Police have appealed to anyone with any information about the attack to contact detectives in the PSNI’s Rape Crime Unit on 0845 600 8000.

Local politicians have condemned the sex attack.

West Belfast Sinn Fein councillor Charlene O’Hara said the people who assaulted the woman must be “taken off the streets as soon as possible”.

“The thoughts of the community are with the victim who has suffered this dreadful ordeal.

“This has shocked the local community who will not feel safe until the perpetrators are apprehended,” she added.
