GREENER GREENS FOR SCOTLAND’S GOLF COURSES

Hebridean sheep help maintain the Machrihanish Dunes golf course.

MACHRIHANISH, UK – 2013: The 18 hole Machrihanish Dunes links course on the Mull of Kintyre has employed a flock of Hebridean sheep to play a key role in maintaining the grass on the course. As part of its ongoing commitment to managing the course through environmentally friendly practices, the small black sheep which are native to the west of Scotland, are hardy and thrive on the rough grasses found amongst the dunes.
