Police arrest youth over flat fire in Lisburn, Co Antrim

DETECTIVES have arrested a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of arson.

The teenager was detained following a blaze at a flat in Drumbeg Drive, Lisburn, Co Antrim on Monday night.

The alarm was raised after police saw smoke billowing from the property around 11.30 pm.

Two PSNI officers were treated by paramedics at the scene for smoke inhalation after helping to safety those inside the building.

In follow-up inquiries, a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, burglary and possession of an offensive weapon.

He is currently in custody at Lisburn PSNI station assisting detectives with their inquiries.

Police have appealed for information.
