POLICE have urged the public in south Belfast to redouble their efforts to protect their homes from thieves.

A number of homes were burgled from last Friday, September 13 to Monday, September 16.

The homes targeted are between Lisburn Road PSNI station and Osborne Park.

Police in Balmoral say that the burglars were eyeing up homes which provided an easy access to the rear and had wooden doors or windows fitte.

“Again they are stealing cash, jewellery, and on occasion laptops,” say PSNI Balmoral.

“Burglars don’t often turn up on spec, so they will be checking out target houses in advance.

“This includes no car in the driveway, post visible in the hallway, no alarm, no answer to door and ready access to rear of house.

“These things add up make your home a potential target.”
