Detectives in west Belfast investigate serious assault on woman on Sunday

DETECTIVES are investigating after a woman was seriously assaulted in west Belfast.

According to the PSNI, the 49-year-old woman was given a lift by a man in a car on the Falls Road, close to the Royal Victoria Hospital, early on Sunday evening, September 8.

The victim was driven to a lay-by on the Wheelers Road, close to its junction with Tornagrough Road, where she was assaulted.

She was then driven back to the junction of the Falls Road and St James Park, and dumped out of the car.

Detectives are looking for a silver four-door vehicle.
