Police release two people held of the stabbing of a male in west Belfast on Sunday

A MAN and a woman have been freed from police custody following the stabbing of a man in west Belfast on Sunday.

The victim was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital suffering from stab wounds to his head and body after an attack in Belfast.

The 23-year-old man was discovered by PSNI officers Iveagh Drive around 3.30 am.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man was a short time later on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

A 26-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both have been released pending further inquiries.
