ARMY Technical Officers made safe a pipe bomb found at a stock car event on Friday night.
The Ballymena Showgrounds stadium had to be evacuated after an initial suspect object was found in the car park.
Between 500-700 people who were attending the event had to leave the stadium during the alert.
Police cordoned off the area and tasked ATO to the scene to examine the suspicious object.
Army Technical Officers sent in a robot to examine it before making the device safe.
The PSNI later revealed that it was in fact a pipe bomb device.
After the area declared safe, the area around the stadium was reopened.
Motorists who were attendingĀ his evening’s stock car racing event were later allowed back to remove their cars.
