Belfast City Council says work starts today on east Belfast Greenway scheme

BELFAST City Council has announced that work will start in Victoria and Orangefield Parks today, Monday, July 22 as part of the first phase of the Connswater Community Greenway scheme.

BSG Civil Engineering Ltd, who are delivering the works, will be on site in both parks, as construction gets underway on the £35 million project, which includes parts of the East Belfast Flood Alleviation Scheme.

The parks will remain open during the work, with any disruption to facilities clearly marked on signs within both sites.

Work on phase 1 is expected to be completed by spring 2014.

The Connswater Community Greenway/East Belfast Flood Alleviation Scheme has been developed by East Belfast Partnership and is funded by Belfast City Council, the Big Lottery Fund, the Department for Social Development and the Department for Agriculture and Rural Development`s Rivers Agency.
