Army technical officers made safe a home made bomb

ARMY technical officers made safe a small homemade bomb.

The device, described by police as a pipe with fireworks inside it, was discovered in the Bawn Meadows area of Hamiltonsbawn on Sunday.

Army bomb squad officers were called to the scene.

The suspicious object has now been taken away for forensic testing.

A number of residents who were moved from their homes have been allowed to return.

Police asked anyone with information to come forward.

A statement continued: “Police would ask anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact them at Armagh on 0845 600 8000.”
