Homes evacuated in north Belfast over a security alert in Ardoyne

A NUMBER of homes have been evacuated following a security alert in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast.

Police were called to the Alliance Avenue area on Tuesday afternoon.

As a result, Alliance Avenue has been closed to traffic between Etna Drive and Berwick Road.

The Ardoyne Community Centre has been made available to evacuated residents.

Army technical officers have been tasked to the scene.
