Mark Beirne formerly owned Milk nightclub in Belfast

TWO Belfast publicans have been banned from acting as directors.

Mark Beirne, 41, of Old Forge Manor, Belfast was disqualified for eight years in respect of his conduct as a director of Life Inns Limited, Sketch Developments Limited and NI Leisure Limited.

Sean McFerran, 58, of Osborne Place, Belfast, was disqualified for six years in respect of his conduct as a director of Life Inns Limited.

The Department of Enterprise accepted the disqualification undertakings.

Life Inns Limited operated public houses and licensed premises in Belfast trading as Magennis’s, Opium, Milk, Potthouse and Advocate and went into liquidation on 8 March 2007 with estimated assets of £242,000, estimated liabilities of £1,190,000 and an estimated deficiency as regards creditors of £948,000.

Sketch Developments Limited operated a public house in Belfast trading as The House and went into liquidation on 11 November 2010 with assets estimated to realise £3,204, liabilities of £439,889 to creditors and an estimated deficiency as regards creditors of £436,685.

NI Leisure Limited operated a public house in Belfast trading as Brownes and went into liquidation on 6 January 2011 with assets estimated to realise nothing, liabilities of £869,641 to creditors, and an estimated deficiency as regards creditors of £869,641.
