Police find a body in the search for missing Bert McMurtry

POLICE searching for a missing Co Antrim man have recovered a body.

The discovery was made in the Woodburn Road area of Newtownabbey on Tuesday afternoon.

Bert McMurtry, 66, from the Ballyclare area, had been missing since Monday morning.

The alarm was raised after his gold Renault Scenic car was found abandoned a few hours later on Woodburn Road.

A spokeswoman for the PSNI said: “Investigations are ongoing and a post mortem will be carried out.”
