THE PSNI has been forced to evacuate one of its stations after a member of the public brought a ‘suspicious package’ into the building.
Police have revealed that Carrickfergus PSNI station has now been evacuated along with several other premises and homes in the area.
Army bomb experts have been sent to the scene to examine thee package.
Police said the evacuation was caused after a “suspicious object” was carried into the enquiries office by a member of the public.
As a result of the alert, the Larne Road has also been closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
