Security alert in Co Fermanagh forces families from their homes on Tuesday

THE PSNI has evacuated a number of homes in a security alert in Co Fermanagh.

The Stragowna Road which runs from Kinawley to the Derrylin Road is closed as is the Drumroosk Road due to the alert.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and take an alternative route.

Army technical officers have been tasked to the scene.

Police say the roads in the Kinawley area may remain closed until Wednesday, May 22.

No details have yet been released of what has caused the evacuation of homes.

The alert comes less than four weeks before the G8 summit is due to be held in Co Fermanagh.
