Police appeal over armed robbery in east Belfast

DETECTIVES are appealing for information after an armed robbery in an east Belfast shop on Friday morning.

Two masked men, one armed with a claw hammer, entered the shop on the on the Upper Newtownards Road around 6am.

Police say the men made off with a quantity of cigarettes in the direction of Finvoy Street.

One of the men is described as being about 6ft tall wearing a black hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms with white stripes and dark shoes with white soles.

The other male was described as wearing a blue hooded top, blue jeans and white trainers.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact CID in Musgrave Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
