Police intercept dissidents onboard a car carrying a number of guns and a pipebomb

A MAN is to appear in court on Monday charged after covert police foiled a dissident terror attack.

The 20-year-old has been charged under the Terrorism Act 2005 with possession of firearms and a pipe bomb with intent to endanger life.

He is to appear at Derry Magistrates Court.

A 54-year-old also arrested on Friday night is still being questions by detectives at the serious crime suite in Antrim.

The men were detained after police rammed a car on the Northlands Road in Derry on Friday evening.

Two cars were eventually stopped and a number of firearms and a pipebomb were recovered.

A third car was stopped in a follow up operation by police following a surveillance operation.
