Police charge man after PSNI car was rammed in Newry

A MAN is to face a court on Friday after two PSNI officers were injured when their car was rammed in Co Down.

The attack happened in the Ardmaine Gardens area of Newry shortly after 9pm on Thursday night.

The PSNI said police were responding to reports of anti-social behaviour in the area when their car was hit.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, and driving without insurance.

He is also facing charges of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of class B drugs with intent to supply.

He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

A 16-year-old was arrested at the scene but later released on bail pending further inquiries into the incident.
