Hillcroft primary school to re-open on Monday following health scare

A SCHOOL closed for the past month over a health scare will re-open on Monday.

Hillcroft Special School in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, was closed after a bacterium which can cause Legionnaires’ disease was discovered in a disused shower block.

The North Eastern Education and Library Board has apologised to parents for the disruption.

Work was sent home to the pupils while the school was closed.

In a statement the NEELB said: “The board regrets the disruption that has taken place to the educational routine of the pupils who attend Hillcroft School and is delighted to be in a position to re-open the school.

“We very much appreciate the work of the principal and staff of the school during this difficult period and would wish to express our thanks to parents for their understanding and support”.
