Det Sup Sean Wright heads up ‘Operation Dulcet’

A MAN and woman have been arrested after guns and ammunition were found by police investigating disorder linked to Union flag protests.

During searches of a property in Kings Way, Newtownabbey on Thursday detectives seized two guns, a quantity of ammunitions, suspected cannabis and a sum of cash.

The planned search was carried by officers from Operation Dulcet inquiry team who are  are probing violence and unrest following a number of flag protests in the Greater Belfast area.

The inquiry is headed up by Detective Superintendent Sean Wright.

Over 200 people have been arrested over trouble surrounding the street protests which erupted on December 3 last year after Belfast City Council voted to only fly the Union flag on designated days.

The 43-year-old man and 44-year-old woman are currently in custody assisting detectives with their inquiries.
