Police probe assault and burglary attempt in north Belfast

TWO men were treated in hospital after an attempted burglary by an armed gang at a north Belfast apartment.

Police initially received a report of a disturbance at Antrim Road’s Throne View apartments on Sunday at around 6.15am.

When officers attended, six men and one women left the property.

However, shortly afterwards, at 7.30am, police were alerted to a gang – armed with weapons including knives and a hammer – attempting to gain entry to another apartment in the vicinity.

Two men, aged 23 and 24, sustained cuts and bruising during the incident.

Police are appealing to anyone, who witnessed the disturbance or burglary, to come forward.
