Police say viable device defused in Co Down

A viable explosive device was defused by Army technical officers on Saturday night.

The pipe bomb device was found late on Saturday night outside the door at a block of flats in Doon Park, Carryduff, Co Down.

The alert was raised around 9.30 pm and a number of homes were evacuated while the device was dealt with.

Anyone with information about the device or seen any suspicious activity around Doon Park is asked to contact detectives at Castlereagh CID on 0845 600 8000 to help establish a motive for the attack.
