CSI officers comb the murder scene in Ballymena

THE 26-year-old son of murdered Ballymena man John Lamont has been moved from police custody to secure accommodation.

Mr Lamont, 64, died in a knife attack in the Carnvale area of the Co Antrim town in the early hours of Tuesday.

His 59-year-old wife is being treated in hospital for stab wounds.

Their son Greg Lamont was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the double stabbing on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

He has now been transferred to secure accommodation in the health service under the Mental Health Order.
