Police probe stab murder in Ballymena

THE victim of an overnight fatal stabbing has been named as John Lamont.

A suspect is currently in custody on Tuesday being questioned after the 64-year-old victim was knifed to death in Ballymena, County Antrim.

A 59-year-old woman was taken to Antrim Area Hospital suffering from stab wounds following the incident at a semi-detached house in the Carnvale area off the Carniny Road on Monday night.

Her condition is described as critical.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested by detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Police said the investigation was ongoing.
