PSNI at the scene of west Belfast security alert

THE PSNI said the security alert in west Belfast on Monday morning has been declared a hoax.

North Howard Street was closed to traffic between the Falls Road and Cupar Way as a result of the alert.

Police had advised motorists to avoid the area and take an alternative route.

The area is now re-opened after Army technical officers declared the alert was a hoax.
