Aloysius Hackett was found dead at his home on Aghindarragh Road on Friday night.

Police have confirmed the 60-year-old died after sustaining a gunshot wound.

Detectives are still questioning Mr Hackett’s 18-year-old son Sean about the murder in Augher, County Tyrone

Mr Hackett was heavily involved in his local Augher GAA club.

His son Sean is the minor captain for Tyrone and was seen as a rising star in the future for the county’s senior team

A minute’s silence was held at Sunday’s McKenna Cup match between Tyrone and Derry in Omagh.

Canon Lawrence Dawson, who has been supporting the Hackett family, said at the weekend: “They’re manfully trying to cope with huge grief and relying on their faith to pull them through.
