Two men face Belfast Magistrates Court on sex charges

TWO foreign nationals faced a court on Saturday accused of sexually assaulting a woman on New Year’s Day in Belfast.

Polish man Tomasz Wnek, aged 38, was charged with trying to rape their alleged victim and two charges of sexually assaulting the woman.

Sudanese man Ishak Dokkan, 24, was also charged with two counts of sexually assaulting her on the same date.

The men,  who had addresses at Centenary Houe in Victory Street, Belfast, appeared in the dock of the court along with interpreters who translated the proceedings for them.

The incident happened at a property in the Donegall Street area of the city in the early hours of Tuesday.

A detective sergeant from the PSNI’S Rape Crime Unit told the court he believe he could connect the pair to each of the charges.

District Judge George Conner remanded the two accused into custody until Thursday, January 10.
