Police still searching for missing pensioner Harry Warwick

POLICE are continuing to search north Belfast for missing Harry Warwick.

And a dedicated team of detectives has been set up to pull all strands of information together and check all possible leads or any sightings.

Mr Warwick went missing from Abington Manor Care Home on the Crumlin Road in north Belfast on Wednesday, December 19.

His disappearance was top of the morning agenda at Tennant Street PSNI station on Wednesday morning.

The PSNI said on Tuesday: “A few days ago a dedicated team of detectives was established to follow up the outstanding enquiries and sightings.

“These have been extensive and have included speaking to his old friends and acquaintances to glean information which may lead us to find Harry.

“Our searches have also been continuing, particularly of Country Park and we have used specialist aerial photography to examine more inaccessible areas.

“This is still very much a live enquiry, so if you have any information please come forward and tell us.

During the initial period searches, around 100 people along with police officers and a PSNI helicopter joined the search for the pensioner without success.

The searches are being co-ordinated by Detective Chief Inspector Alan Little.

He said: “Our focus still remains on the north Belfast area and indeed, there are a number of searches ongoing today and further resources being drafted into the area to try and see if we can locate Harry.

“Obviously our concerns are for Harry’s wellbeing. We are extremely concerned given the length of time he has been missing from home.”

The detective appealed to anyone living in the north Belfast area to check garages, sheds, lock ups and any unoccupied premises, particularly in the Ligoniel and Ballysillan areas, for any signs of disturbance or habitation.

“Harry, when he was last seen, was wearing a dark green waxed three quarter length jacket. He had bottle green trousers [on], brown shoes and a V neck jumper,” he added.

He described the pensioner as slightly built and between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in tall with receding grey hair.
