Security alert in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim

A SECURITY alert in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim has ended after it was declared an elaborate hoax.

A number of homes were evacuated after a suspicious object was found at a shop.

The Valley Leisure Centre was made available to residents forced out of their homes.

The PSNI have now said the device was declared an elaborate hoax by Army techinical officers and roads in the area have now re-opened.
