Police closed Doagh Road during bomb alert

A BOMB alert in Newtownabbey which forced residents from their homes has ended.

The PSNI had closed the Doagh Road at its junctions with Monkstown Avenue and Monkstown Road after the discovery of a suspicious object.

However, after an examination by Army bomb disposal experts, the object was found to be “nothing untoward”.

Translink bus services have now returned to normal.
