Police hunt armed hijacker in north Belfast

POLICE are hunting an armed man who hijacked a car at gunpoint in north Belfast.

The incident happened on the Ligoniel Road on Thursday at around 5pm.

The male driver was sitting in his car when an armed man got into the passenger seat and forced him to drive to the Elmfield Street area.

On arrival, two other men appeared and the man was threatened to get out of the vehicle.

The car, a silver-coloured Ford Mondeo, was found burned out in the Jamaica Street area of the city at approximately 9.30pm.
